3. Textile Innovation Stories and smart practices

3.17. Soven (Slovenia)

1)      Please provide the most interesting examples of technical / smart textiles that you have.

We manufacture all kinds of 100% natural woollen nonwoven textiles for technical applications. They can be used as isolation materials in buildings, for upholstery, in agriculture and for bed mattresses. The thickness ranges from 1mm-10mm, density from 120-1200 g/m2.

Our nonwoven textiles also have a BIO certificate. They are not treated chemically, only mechanically. The composition is 100% natural Slovenian wool.

2)      How did you promote or put your product on the market?

We advertise using various media: advertisements on radio, TV, newscasts. We also write professional articles for various media and web portals. Of course, we also use our web page, Facebook, Instagram.

We are still preferring a direct contact with the customers, through presentations, leaflets and physical examples of our products.

3)      What requirements do you customers most request? (EC Certifications, washing etc.)

The customers usually require certificates of origin the raw material – Slovenian wool, its potential impact on humans and the environment, as well as technical characteristics. For this purpose, we obtained the BIO certificate from the institute KON-CERT Maribor, http://www.kon-cert.si/institut-kon-cert-maribor.html, and the ETA - European Technical Approval from ZAG Ljubljana (Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute, http://www.zag.si/en/. The certificate of origin is issued by the company, depending on the type of purchase with the certified breeder, where the wool is purchased.

4)      Do you agree in sharing some of these experiences for educational purposes?

Yes. We support the education with pleasure.
