Guide for Best Practices of the Courses

This Guide for best practices of the courses is one of the outputs of the ADVAN2TEX project. It has been prepared based on the interaction tutors-trainees, following the methodology of benchmarking.

10. Major conclusions

The face-to-face courses, organized by all the partners, have been an excellent means to compare different practices and detect the aspects that can be improved with the e-learning courses and the ADVAN2TEX platform.

The main conclusions that can be highlighted from this benchmarking exercise are the following:

  1. The improvement of the modules of the course should consider the inclusion of more graphical elements, to improve its attractiveness.
  2. Each student should have the possibility of choosing the modules that are more important for his specialization.
  3. The face-to-face sessions should include as far as possible more practical elements such as lab and company visits.
  4. The ideal number of students in a face-to-face course is 20.
  5. All the trainees should have access to one computer at the face-to-face sessions.
  6. The methodology of making one face-to-face session per week for each module followed by one week e-learning can increase significantly the active participation of the trainees in the chat sessions.
  7. It is suggested to make pre-selection of the trainees according to their background or special interests and a possible division into two more homogenous groups.
